Bad news for Hillary Clinton. Her posturing on the Hill, and her cover-up for Obama are coming back to haunt her. Finally, the full extent of the Clinton/Obama/Rice cover-up is seeing the light of day. And guess who is helping shine that light? No other than ultra liberal, John Kerry.
As a publicity stunt following the Benghaz compound attacks, she put four mid-level State Department workers and a deputy assistant secretary on administrative leave. It was all very dramatic — clear your desks and leave. The implication: It was all your fault. You should have told me. Americans died because of you.
On Monday, John Kerry reinstated all of them. The scapegoats get their jobs back, and there will be no formal disciplinary hearing. Looks like Kerry is prepared to stick up for the State Department whereas Hillary was prepared to let them take the fall for CIA off-book activities.
Her theatrics pissed off Darrell Issa:
“Instead of accountability, the State Department offered a charade that included false reports of firings and resignations and now ends in a game of musical chairs where no one misses a single day on the State Department payroll,” House Oversight and Government Reform Committee chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said in a statement.
“It is now clear that the personnel actions taken by the Department in response to the Benghazi terrorist attacks was more of a public relations strategy than a measured response to a failure in leadership,” he said.
So we’re no nearer the real story about what happened that night and the families of the dead have no answers. What we do know is that there is much to be uncovered. In the Nation’s Capitol there is much speculation and a few whisper leaks.
The Beltway gossip has it like this. The compound housed a CIA base in Benghazi. It was set up in 2011 when Libyan rebel groups cleared the area around the city. Obama was supplying the rebels with arms and intelligence, although he never got backing from Congress for this. The base secretly provided information to the rebels, presumably information on the location of Gaddafi forces, and also some equipment. The base became an important collection center for monitoring Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations in North Africa. According to a book written by former Navy SEAL Jack Murphy and former Army Ranger Brandon Webb, the Benghazi attack was retaliation for the secret raids Obama’s counter-terrorism adviser John Brennan (Now head of the CIA. He took over when General Petraeus conveniently stepped down a month after these attacks,) was directing at militias in Libya at the time.
“Brennan waged his own unilateral operations in North Africa outside of the traditional command structure,” the book says, calling it an “off the books” operation not coordinated with Petraeus and the CIA.
The authors then claim that these raids were a “contributing factor” in the militant strike on the U.S. Consulate and CIA annex on Sept. 11.
The raids, they said, “kicked the hornets’ nest and pissed off the militia.”
Benghazi was blowback. Tell that to the Marines.
