Liberal Hollywood producer and Democratic fatcat donors Scott Rudin and Amy Pascal issued apologies Thursday for making racist jokes about Barack Obama’s taste in movies. The comments were made in an email exchange between Rudin and Pascal. The emails were leaked as a result of the massive hack attack that hit Sony Pictures in late November.
Here are their apologies:
“I made a series of remarks that were meant only to be funny, but in the cold light of day, they are in fact thoughtless and insensitive — and not funny at all. To anybody I’ve offended, I’m profoundly and deeply sorry, and I regret and apologize for any injury they might have caused.”
In a statement released soon after by Sony, Pascal called her comments “insensitive and inappropriate” and “not an accurate reflection of who I am.” She said that although the emails were “stolen,” she accepts “full responsibility for what I wrote and apologize to everyone who was offended.”
In a tweet later Thursday, “Scandal” and “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes said the comments were “racist,” not merely “racially insensitive.”
Man, can you imagine the media firestorm that would be happening right now had a conservative made those comments? Meanwhile, this entire story will fade from everyone’s mind by next week just because Rudin and Pascal are Democrats. Even CNN’s Michaela Pereira admits all they have to do to get back on everyone’s good side is throw more money at Obama:
CNN’s Michaela Pereira said both Democratic donors may need to reach out to the White House to account for the awkward exchanges.
“Might need to spend a little more money now and make a phone call to the White House,” Pereira said.
If ever there were (another) case for media bias, this is it.
