Republicans who let the other side pick the topic of the week are doing the country’s work for its opponents. The second Trump term has been a year and a half of enforcement, tax relief, energy, crime, and hard power. Those results do not vanish because a camera prefers a different fight. Here are twenty-five of them.
The Border and the Interior
- Southwest border encounters collapsed to levels not seen in half a century. Catch-and-release ended. Remain in Mexico came back. Daily releases at the line hit month after month of zero.
- Removals and self-departures flipped the migration math. Hundreds of thousands of formal deportations plus well over a million who left on their own produced the first stretch of negative net migration in decades.
- Cartels and major transnational gangs were designated terrorist organizations, which opened tools that used to sit on the shelf while fentanyl and hit crews treated the border like a loading dock.
- Interior enforcement stopped being a press release. ICE monthly arrests climbed into the tens of thousands, including July’s nearly 50,000, the highest month of the term.
- Tourist and business visas used as a doorway to asylum are being pulled. More than 175,000 visas have already been revoked for crime, fraud, birth tourism, and abuse of status. Up to 200,000 more B-1 and B-2 holders who filed asylum claims are in the pipeline.
Crime and Drugs
- Violent crime fell 9.3 percent in 2025, the largest one-year drop on record in the national report. Murder dropped 18.1 percent. Robbery fell 18.5 percent. Aggravated assault and rape fell with them. Property crime dropped more than 12 percent.
- Fentanyl-linked deaths plunged about 22 percent in a year, more than 10,000 fewer dead. Total overdose deaths fell about 14 percent. That is not a vibe. That is bodies that did not go to the morgue.
- Federal violent-crime arrests surged. Most-wanted fugitives came off the board at a pace the prior four years never matched.
- Cities that took federal help saw sharp local drops in homicide, carjacking, and robbery. Washington, Memphis, New Orleans, and Chicago all posted numbers their mayors used to call impossible.
Money in Your Pocket
- The 2025 tax law made the 2017 working-family cuts permanent, added no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and a larger senior deduction. Millions of service workers and extra-shift employees keep more of what they earn.
- Illegal aliens were cut out of major refundable tax credits. That change alone is scored in the billions.
- Real output outside the federal sector grew at a strong clip after inauguration. Late-2025 GDP prints were the kind of numbers the last crowd used to promise and never deliver.
- The 2025 calendar-year deficit came in hundreds of billions below the prior year. Waste hunting at the IRS and contract cuts added real dollars, not slogans.
- Energy policy reversed the choke points. Drilling permits jumped. The United States stayed the top producer and a net exporter of oil and gas instead of apologizing for it.
- Record private investment poured into American plants, chips, and power. The government took a stake in a critical chipmaker whose stock then doubled. That is industrial policy with a balance sheet, not a lecture.
Trade, Allies, and Enemies
- Reciprocal tariffs forced other countries to the table. Canada’s special treatment ended when it kept discriminating against American cars, alcohol, and dairy. Transshipment of Chinese goods through third countries is now treated as the scam it is.
- NATO allies committed to a 5 percent of GDP defense-related target by 2035. That is the first serious burden-sharing shift in a generation, not another round of polite communiqués.
- Nicolás Maduro was taken off the board in a raid on Caracas. A narco-state that exported gangs, cocaine, and migrants lost its boss.
- Iranian nuclear sites were struck. Shipping through Hormuz was put under American control. Iranian oil was squeezed off the water. The Emirates then cut the commercial corridor Tehran used to breathe.
- A Gaza ceasefire framework moved from hostages and humanitarian access into the next phase of demilitarization and reconstruction instead of another endless holding pattern.
Law, Schools, and the Culture of the State
- The Supreme Court cleared the path for the mail-in ballot order that builds citizenship lists and tracked envelopes. States that treated a visitor visa or a late envelope as a feature, not a bug, now have to adjust.
- Birth tourism is being treated as the citizenship-for-sale scheme it is. Task forces, visa hits, and a formal order closed a racket that turned delivery rooms into immigration products.
- Gender ideology was stripped out of federal policy. The government stopped pretending men are women in sports, shelters, and official documents.
- Education authority moved back toward the states. Washington’s habit of using school money as a culture lever took a hit.
- A first statutory framework for dollar stablecoins became law, and the prior campaign to choke lawful digital-asset businesses was reversed. American finance stopped pretending the future should be built overseas.
The Point
None of this requires a filter. Border numbers, crime tables, overdose counts, tax forms, and shipping lanes are not cable segments. They are the record. A party that lets its opponents pick the daily outrage is volunteering to hide that record. The achievements are sitting in plain sight. Use them.
