Every dollar spent by the United States government is authorized by the Congress.
Right?
Not so fast.
In their digging, the people who work for DOGE have found out something.
Something that the Congress and the federal government itself want to keep hidden.
Over $500 Billion in payments from the United States treasury this year are not authorized.
Yet Treasury keeps cutting the checks.
These are payments for programs whose authorizations have expired — some as long as 40 years ago — yet the money keeps flowing.
If these programs are a national priority, they Congress should authorize them.
If not, we should stop the checks right now!
It’s almost impossible to fathom.
If the payment is not authorized by law and appropriation, how is it still being made.
It’s almost as if the people working for the federal government don’t care about taxpayer money.
Bingo!
Nobody there cares a whit about your money, They care about their jobs and nothing else. If the boss says keep paying this or that, they do.
Elon Musk and his merry band may well put a stop to this nonsense.
Or Congress itself will need to step up and justify paying for each of these unauthorized programs.
