Many years ago, I heard famed cartoonist Al Capp, creator of the Li’l Abner comic strip, speak at my college campus (yes, I’m that old).
One of his lines was “I live a stone’s throw from Harvard Square — literally.”
That was back in the counter-culture days of campus protests against the War, the government, business, etc.
That quote comes back to me today. I live just outside Washington, DC. And my wife is probably going to the Inauguration.
The Radical Left is not happy.

So here is an interesting one. Started not to post it but it is something that should be a risk to inauguration. @RepMTG @Sassafrass_84 fyi— Granddadscrooge (@Granddadscrooge) January 4, 2025
While I’m probably far enough from the Capitol grounds to be safe, there is, as they say, a non-zero chance that riots will come this far.
And whatever happens, my wife will be there in the middle of it all.
I hope Mike Johnson will be more proactive about this than the useless former Speaker, Nancy Pelosi.
I don’t think you can have too much security on January 20.
