The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution is pretty specific:
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
Seems pretty clear to me. But then, I’m not a government bureaucrat who thinks that whatever they want to do is OK by definition, And the Congress is no better. They make anti-Constitutional laws all the time. And then somebody caught in the grinder of that law has to go to court to try to save themselves from government overreach.
This one is even better, as there are 3.4 million Americans whose rights have been ignored.
The FBI searched emails, texts and other electronic communications of as many as 3.4 million U.S. residents without a warrant over a year, the nation’s top spy chief said in a report.

And I wish, oh how I wish, that when Republicans retake the Congress, they’ll put a stop to this. But since they are just as guilty of constitutional violations as the Democrats, I think it’s unlikely.
Can anybody say Rand Paul???
