The entertainment world’s selective patriotism has never been more obvious. Artists like Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, The Commodores, Young MC, and Morris Day and The Time signed on for the Freedom 250 “Great American State Fair” on the National Mall, then bailed once they realized it carried a strong America First flavor under President Trump’s broader umbrella. They suddenly discovered it was “too political” despite happily performing at Obama-era events and other Democratic functions. Their excuses ring hollow — it’s not about nonpartisanship, it’s about not wanting to be seen celebrating America too enthusiastically when Trump is involved.
I think @TravisTritt @KidRock and @johnrich would be a great lineup for the 250-year celebration of America! pic.twitter.com/Tx55NZ1ZSL

Congressman Tim Burchett’s Straightforward Suggestions
Tennessee Congressman Tim Burchett didn’t waste time with the hand-wringing. In a direct message to President Trump, he laid out a clear, no-nonsense plan to replace the quitters with artists who actually love the country:
- John Rich as the lead/emcee: Burchett called him a “great musician” with strong patriotic songs who could open and host the shows. Rich has already volunteered and offered to step up in a big way.
- Kid Rock: Burchett highlighted him as one of the most patriotic figures in rock ‘n’ roll — a natural headliner who brings high energy and unapologetic American pride.
- Lee Greenwood: Suggested for the finale, singing his iconic “God Bless the USA.” It would be a powerful, emotional closer that millions of Americans associate with genuine patriotism.
Burchett also floated bringing in solid Nashville acts and up-and-coming talent eager for a big stage, emphasizing that real country and rock artists who haven’t sold their souls to Hollywood politics would jump at the chance.

Is it too late to replace Martina McBride with Kid Rock, because I’d LOVE to hear Bob sing this in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, and I think our founding fathers would be proud to hear this echoing from streets of Washington D.C., all the way up to the Heavens! 😭 🙏✝️ pic.twitter.com/8j0BTHckau

Are These Appropriate Replacements?
Absolutely — and in many ways, they’re superior fits for a genuine celebration of America’s 250th.
- John Rich: A proven country hitmaker with deep patriotic catalog. Songs like “Shut Up and Sing” directly call out Hollywood hypocrisy. He’s authentic, connects with working-class audiences, and has already shown willingness to perform.
- Kid Rock: Brings massive crossover appeal, rock energy, and a long track record of unfiltered Americanism. He’s performed at major patriotic events before and doesn’t shy away from controversy. His style fits a big outdoor state fair atmosphere perfectly.
- Lee Greenwood: The gold standard for patriotic anthems. “God Bless the USA” is practically the unofficial soundtrack for American pride events. Having him close the show would deliver the emotional payoff millions expect from a national birthday celebration.
These artists represent exactly what the dropouts claimed to want but couldn’t deliver: genuine, non-corporate patriotism without the performative distance. They appeal to the broad middle of the country rather than coastal elites. The optics of replacing Hollywood flakes with authentic country and rock voices who actually show up sends a strong message: America’s birthday doesn’t need celebrities who need safe political spaces — it needs performers who love the country unconditionally.
The quitters revealed their true colors by treating a national milestone like a partisan minefield. Burchett’s suggestions provide a much better, more authentic lineup that honors the spirit of the 250th. Real fans of this country will show up and cheer louder for artists who actually want to be there. The replacements aren’t just appropriate — they’re an upgrade.
