It was a blatant invitation for a hostile foreign power to meddle in American elections. The double standard stinks of treasonous opportunism: rules for thee, but not for me. Trump’s recent declassifications on Chinese data theft make the betrayal even clearer. They didn’t just talk. China delivered in ways that threaten our sovereignty to this day.
Hillary’s Open Invitation to Beijing
The most glaring example came in May 2019 on MSNBC. Clinton, fresh off her 2016 loss and still peddling Russia narratives, mocked the situation. She imagined a Democratic candidate saying: “Why should Russia have all the fun? The Broader Pattern of Democrat Hypocrisy
The Russia hoax consumed the party. Mueller, impeachments, endless leaks—all built on the premise that Trump’s victory was illegitimate due to foreign help. Yet when intelligence showed China preferred Biden (or at least Trump’s loss) and was actively collecting U.S. voter data, the outrage vanished. - Broader interference ecosystem: Influence operations through universities, businesses, and proxies. Suppression of negative stories (like lab leak origins). Economic pressure on U.S. firms to align with Beijing narratives. While direct ballot tampering evidence remains contested, the data theft alone constitutes massive interference—laying groundwork for future manipulation or destabilization.
- Scale and consequences: This was not small-ball. Hundreds of millions of records enable mass identity fraud, doxxing opponents, or micro-targeted disinformation. Overlay with other stolen data (Equifax, OPM) and China holds unprecedented leverage over American citizens and institutions. It destabilizes trust in elections, fuels division, and threatens economic security through fraud.
Democrats’ public calls amplified the environment where China felt emboldened. They got the help they implicitly sought—data dominance and anti-Trump momentum—while screaming Russia collusion. The asymmetry is grotesque.
