Friday President Trump banned CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the people’s house, effective immediately, for constant “fake news,” fiction, and lies. In the Oval he was asked which stories. He said it was cumulative — two years of it, you get sick of it. That is the official bill of particulars: no exhibit A. The lawsuit already filed quotes him saying there was no single trigger. So let’s not invent a scroll he did not read. Let’s do what he pointed at: the pile.
What He Specified
The post named three logos and a motive. CNN was “Fake News CNN.” MS NOW got a sneer about the name change. Politico got the old $8 million Biden-era subscription line. Then: they write fiction about the president, the administration, and the country. Others to follow. He floated the Times and the Post as future guests of the same policy.
That is not a fact-check appendix. That is a verdict on a brand. By Saturday morning, people with those badges were being turned at the gate. The network said the Constitution is a hall pass. He said he does not have to let them into the building to write the same copy from the driveway.
The Cumulative File — CNN’s Greatest Hits
If “cumulative” means anything, it means the stories that were sold as bombshells and aged into corrections, walk-backs, or folk memory. He did not staple this list to Friday’s order. He has been reciting versions of it since the first term. So has half the country that does not work in Atlanta.
Russia was everywhere and the dossier was gospel until it was a product. Collusion was the weather for two years. The special counsel did not deliver the weather.
“Very fine people.” They clipped the sentence that condemned neo-Nazis and ran the rest until the tape became a drinking game.
Covington. A kid in a hat on the Mall was a national hate crime until more cameras showed up.
Jussie Smollett. A MAGA noose on a Chicago street that was a hoax with a rehearsal. The chyron was slower than the charging documents.
The bomber who was going to prove the base was violent. Then the biography got complicated.
Ukraine. The call was treason until the transcript was the call.
The fine print on “fact checks” that had to be rewritten — including the one where they treated “transgender mice” as a punchline until the grant language was ugly enough to require an editor.
Acosta’s pass. They won the badge in court last time. They will try again. Winning a workspace is not the same as winning the argument.
Add the second-term drumbeat: every enforcement action is a crime, every deportation is a secret police, every casualty figure is a cover-up, every intelligence scrap is a world war the White House almost started. Some of that reporting will hold. Some of it is the same machine that sold you the last round. He is done pretending the difference is subtle.

What a Hoax Is and Is Not
A hoax is a story that is false in the load-bearing beam and sold as settled. An error is a number that moves. Opinion is a panel that hates him out loud. CNN does all three before breakfast. Treating every unflattering sentence as a hoax is how you sound like a man who cannot read a casualty list. Treating every correction as a rounding error is how you get a network that never pays for the dossier hangover.
He chose the blunt instrument. Ban the logo. The smarter instrument would have been a bill of particulars — date, headline, retraction, next. He did not do that. He pointed at the pile and locked the door. The pile is real. The lock is the lawsuit.

What Happens Next
They will report from the fence. A judge will talk about public forums and hard passes. The last time a CNN badge got pulled, it came back. Restricted rooms are a closer call than the briefing-room chair. None of that changes the catalog. The catalog is why a huge part of the country hears “CNN exclusive” and reaches for the mute.
He specified the network, not the segments. If he wants the country to treat this as evidence instead of a mood, publish the segments. Until then, the list is the one everybody already knows: Russia that wasn’t, a kid on the Mall, a staged beating, a call that was on paper, a fact-check that had to eat itself, and a decade of telling you the other half of the country was a threat to the Republic. That is cumulative. That is why he is sick of it. That is also why a court will ask for a narrower reason than a vibe. Give the court the list. The viewers already have it.
