How many?
Nobody knows for sure. That’s a large part of the reason Elon is asking employees to tell what they did last week.
Weeding out the fake ones.
Some federal employees never open e-mails or even log on to their computers. President Trump thinks they probably have another job but are still collecting their government paycheck.
Or maybe they are just dead — and still collecting their paycheck.
I’ve heard estimates that there may be a million ghost employees. If so, Elon and his merry band have their work cut out for them.
And there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth from the federal employee unions whose revenues will be cut and influence decimated.
Good riddance. If you can’t even be bothered to do your job, we don’t need you.
